Starting November 27, the day after Thanksgiving, we will hold a 1,000 song Rock Band Marathon for charity. All proceeds will be given to Child’s Play, which is a charity that donates toys, games, and books to children’s hospitals worldwide. You will notice a ChipIn widget in the right sidebar that will allow you to donate money directly to Child’s Play using PayPal. This will be active on the site from now until December 6.
The rules of the game:
- We will begin on Friday, November 27, 2009, 9 AM EST
- The entirety of the marathon will be broadcast live via streaming video provided by Ustream
- There will be 6 principal gamers involved, coming and going at various times (some of us will have to sleep eventually)
- 3 people will be playing the game at all times (one each on guitar, drums, and vocals)
- A 4th person will be available to read and interact with viewers on a live chat
- We won’t stop until we’ve played 1,000 songs in a row from Rock Band, Rock Band 2, and some DLC (repeats of songs will be allowed)

- We will take requests, but only with a minimum donation of $25. Be sure to make a comment that goes along with the donation via ChipIn telling us what song you’d like us to play. You can find a list of available songs here.
- Each player will be able to chose their own difficulty level (minimim difficulty of medium)
- We estimate the entirety of the marathon will last a minimum of 72 hours
