A Cave Story Retrospective

I always love seeing videos that can entertain and inform at the same time, and I’m really happy to share this amazing retrospective by Mark Carr (host of Indie Games Searchlight).  It’s on the granddaddy of the modern independent video game – Cave Story.  If you enjoyed it, I urge you to check out his other work.

…but this doesn’t count, you still have to do 16 bit Gems.

    :)

Good video, thanks for sharing, look forward to your future Gems!!

I just read yesterday about the 3DS version, now I know why they called this game an “indie gem”. Hope you will share such great stuff more often with us :)

I just watched this on normalboots.com (Went for the JonTron, stayed for The Completionist and Indie Game Searchlight) yesterday. I installed this game a year ago when I was first thrown into Indie Games besides Super Meat Boy and Alien Hominid, but I never got around to playing it. In my intro programming class a few kids were playing it on the other end of the room and they got me excited to check it out, and when I heard about CS+ I decided I’d just wait for that to play on steam with all the extras. Now it is there, but I’m probably going to wait for the holiday season to end, I don’t need another game in my games list (The damn sales get me to buy games I never play! Argh!)

I have the Wiiware and free versions of the game and now you’ve just reminded me to get back to it ^_^

Yes, the cube controller or Virtual controller work much better than the wii remote on its own, though it’s surprisingly functional.
